The Gift of a Child

Perhaps when you think of philanthropy, names like Bill Gates and John D. Rockefeller come to mind first.  If so, you are not alone.  Most people only think of the rich and famous when it comes to giving to charity, which is why I would like to introduce you to someone who is just as generous as they are but not as well known.  Her name is Karina, a six year old girl whose heart is bigger than the poverty in the world around her.  She is the purest example of what true philanthropy is all about.

She enjoys playing with her friends, getting dressed up and exploring the world around her.  She is smart, attractive and just like every other six year old girl, except for one thing.  She puts the needs of others above her own desires, an attitude that we can all learn from.

Karina first heard about Arpan Global Charities (AGC) from her parents Vijay and Sherrie who are friends of the founder Sudeep Kukreja M.D. The little girl learned that there are children around the world who do not have access to health care and will die without the help of others.  When she heard this she made a very selfless decision especially for a child about to celebrate a birthday.

She told her parents that she wanted to have her family and friends make a donation to charity instead of giving her birthday presents. Everyone was so inspired by this little girls desire to help other children that they generously opened their hearts and made donations to the  charity of HER choice which was of course was Arpan Global Charities. Karina is not only a shining example of love in action; she is a true shining star.

She has set a wonderful example of how we should all live our lives by helping others who are in need.  Karina did it by giving up her birthday presents so that other children could receive the gift of health.  The question is: what are you be willing to give up for someone else in need?
