Andaman Islands-India (Mission 21)
February 10-17, 2018
The 21st volunteer medical expedition was held at the Andaman & Nicobar Institute of Medical Sciences. Our team of 45 members consist of anesthesiologists, surgeons, dentist, physicians, pharmacists, and pediatric residents. We treated about 700 adult and pediatric patients, performed 70 surgical procedures including eye surgeries, gynecological surgeries, pediatric general surgeries, urological surgeries as well as 30 dental procedures. Our team members gave didactic talks and shared hands on experience with our counterparts from Andaman. We also participated in a day long medical symposium arranged by the Health Sciences Institute.
The credit for the success this expedition goes to the dedication and hard work of our host as well as our team members. It is needless to say that this expedition was possible without whole hearted support of Major General. Rajendra Prasad Choubey, the medical director of the Andaman Islands Institute of Health Sciences.
